New Milestone!!!

Logan rolled over today for the first time!! He rolled from front to back and then from back to front. He can only go one direction for now, but I'm sure he'll discover the other direction soon! He's 4 mos, 3 wks old. That's a little late, but he hates tummy time and just cries usually if I put him on his stomach. I haven't been as diligent at that since he hates it so much, but we've been working on that a lot the past several weeks. Yayyyy for Logan!

Baby's First Snow

Last Sunday we got tons of snow....well tons considering it's GA. We got somewhere around 6 inches, closer to 8 at one point but then the sleet came and packed it all down and turned it into ice. It started mid morning and didn't stop til dark. The power went out around 3 p.m. and stayed off until late the next evening. My brother was visiting on his way to FL with some of his family members, who took a detour to UGA to watch a basketball game, so he came and spent the day with us. Once the power went off, they braved the storm to go buy some firewood. Neither Brent nor I really thought we'd need it. We've never been without power for more than an hour so we thought it'd be back on rather quickly but to be on the safe side they went ahead before it got too bad to get out. Good thing they did! We all slept in front of the fireplace Sunday night. The cold woke Brent up every 1-1/2 hours or so and he would have to put more wood on the fire, which woke me up since I was laying right in front of it. So needless to say, it was a long night. Logan never got cold, though. He was probably sweating under all the layers I had him in. The last thing I wanted was a sick baby! I also bundled him up so he could go out and see the snow for a whole 5 seconds...well, at least long enough to get a picture! Bless his heart, I had him in a onesie, 2 pairs of socks, a fleece body suit, a snow suit thing, two hats and two fleece blankets. Once again, he was probably sweating or about to pass out from a heat stroke. It was a lot of work to get him in and out of all that just for a picture, but I knew there would probably never be this much snow for another 10 years or maybe the rest of his life, the way things are going. We ran out of firewood around 9 a.m. I thought 5 things of wood would have been way too much, but I guess Brent should have went ahead and bought all 8 the store had left at the time. He went out again trying to find more wood, but there was none. He also attempted to go to work to turn in payroll because it was due and he's the only one who could do it but he never made it there. The roads were just too bad. At noon it seemed as though the snow was melting some. The sun was out in full force then, helping the cause even more. A neighbor gave us some wood to use earlier that morning. It was that or sit in the car with the heater on, that was an idea that I wasn't loving too much....sitting in a car trying to entertain a 4 month old for no telling how long sounds a little complicated. My car was at the bottom of the driveway. For those of you that have never seen our house, our driveway is pretty steep. Once the snow started to melt, Brent started scraping the driveway so we could get my car out. I never ever watch the news down here so I had no idea this snow was coming and had planned on going to Chickamauga that day. I should probably watch the news more often. I never do because it use to scare me when we lived in Woodstock because of all the murders and stuff. In Chattanooga, if there is a murder, they talk about it for weeks. Down here, it's a different murder every day, and not just one but multiple ones, so therefore I stopped watching the news. Anyways, Brent was able to clear off the driveway and get my car out. I packed in the dark (which is a really bad idea) and we got on the road around 1 or so. I was terrified until I got to the main road. I had two crazy dogs and a baby in the car on roads covered in snow and ice...again, not a good idea! But we made it out of there just fine and I got to Chickamauga in record time.

I ended up spending all week in Chickamauga. Brent was out of town Mon.-Thurs. night. I went to Taco Night with my parents and sibling/friends at Guadalajara, the new Mexican place in Chickamauga. I really miss the random trips to Amigo's with the family that use to take place when we lived in town, so it was nice to get to go to something other than a holiday function for once. Julie and I were suppose to meet up for dinner once she got off from work but she was not feeling well and didn't want to pass anything to Logan. Tuesday I took Logan to visit with Brent's MawMaw and Larry. His grandmother is so sweet. I wish Logan could spend more time with her, she's so good with him! Larry could only stay for a minute because he had some work to do. Also on Tuesday I hit up some consignment sales while Mom watched Logan for me. He now had lots of cute summer clothes! He needs more, but I'm going to wait another month or two to see how much more growing he's going to do. He's getting so long that he's long enough for 6-9 months, but they seem to swallow him whole since he's so lean. Wednesday I was able to get my nails done with my girlfriends. It was nice to get to see them once again. It seems like I've seen them more this year than I have the entire time I've lived in Atlanta. I still wish I got to see them more though. Wednesday I had to work 3p-10p. I had planned on going home Thursday morning but Brent thought that he wouldn't get back til pretty late Thursday night and I didn't really feel like working by myself with Logan Thursday night so I decided to stay another night. It was probably a good decision since Logan got pretty spoiled while we were there and Friday was sure to be one frustrating day since I had to work 7a-3p and he would have wanted to be held or played with all day. I ended up going home Friday evening. Brent really missed Logan and he says he missed me a little, I think he's full of it though.

This weekend we took advantage of our new membership to Cosco to restock the freezer and fridge since most of it got ruined from the power being out for so long. I think most of it was probably still good but I wasn't home to check it when the power came back on so I didn't want to chance it. Cosco is pretty neat. They have some really good deals if you're willing to buy in bulk. You can definitely spend a small fortune in there though...well, even a large fortune! The best part about it is the free samples they give out. There's pretty much a sample at the end of each aisle, haha, good samples too, like lobster spread and some really really good apple cinnamon bread, yummy! Sunday we tackled the back yard to clean up all the mess that the storm created. I forgot how much I enjoy working in the yard. I want to tackle the flower beds next since they've become overran by the sod since I was unable to work in them last summer because I was pregnant and huge.

Today, I took Logan to the Bundle of Joy class/meeting at St. Mary's Hospital. It is a breastfeeding support group/Mother's group that meets every Monday. At this meeting they have a hospital lactation consultant present to answer all questions and a baby scale so mothers can weight their baby, as well as do before and after feeding weights to see how many ounces they are taking in during a feeding. It's hard to measure the amount of milk a breastfed baby gets since 1) you never see the milk unless you pump, there's no measurement grid on the side of a boob like there is on a bottle, and 2) pumping can't get out the same amount of milk that a baby can, so even pumping is not a good indication of how much milk or the quality of milk you produce. I weighed Logan with his clothes on and he weighed 15 lbs 7 oz. Just 2 weeks ago he weighed 14 lbs 2 oz, without clothes or diaper. So if you take away what the clothes probably weighed, he has pretty much gained a whole pound in 2 weeks. I also talked in depth with the Lactation Consultant about what the Dr told me at the last visit. I love this LC, it's the same one who taught the class I went to and who saw us in the hospital. Anyways, she thinks Logan is right on track with his weight and that there should be no concern. I was glad to hear that! I don't want to be one of those moms who undermine everything the Dr says and always thinks they know better, but at the same time I don't want to be naive either.

That's all for now, I'm going back in two weeks to weigh Logan again.
