Pictures

I promise I am going to upload pictures later, once I can hook up my laptop after work. I'm going to go ahead and warn you that there will be lots to see!

Such a Big Boy!!

Logan is now 8.5 months old. He is crawling, well army crawling, all over the place. He started that about 5 weeks ago and he is getting really good at it! At first he was just using one leg to push himself with but now uses both. He is getting up on his knees a lot but still won't crawl on them. In his crawling adventures he has discovered Daddy's DVD's and electronics under the TV and loves to pull them out on a daily basis. He has also discovered the dog food and water which he loves to play with, even though I'm constantly pulling him away from it. I devised a barricade across the entrance to the kitchen from the living room and it only took him a day or so to figure out how to get around it. I used his big toys, like his exersaucer, walker, etc, to block the entrance and he watched Nino go in the middle of the exersaucer to get to his food, so Logan copied him and crawled right through the center of it. Then I decided to line up the kitchen chairs across the entrance. They have a support rail about 2/3's the way down that I thought he couldn't get through, but I was wrong. He figured out how to put his head down and scoot underneath the 8 inch space he was given. He's like a cat, he can escape anything! Then I put the couch pillows under the chairs hoping that would stop him. Of course that didn't work either. He just decided he's go over the support rail instead of under. So, the poor dog never gets food or water anymore. If it's down, Logan has it thrown all over the place and the water all over him or I put it up and the dog can't get to it. Logan is also pulling up on everything. Anything he can get a grip on, he will pull up on. He's doing a little bit of surfing along whatever he has a hold of, but is still a little nervous about doing that and doesn't have his balance down just yet. He is sitting himself up now on most occasions. He's been able to sit up on his own for some time but couldn't manage to sit himself up, but he is starting to figure that out. He will now let me clap his hands together with open hands instead of fists. He is not clapping on his own yet, but I think that's just around the corner. I need to start clapping more in front of him when he does things so he'll catch on faster. He is lightening fast with his walker. He can maneuver it all over the place. Forward, backwards, circles...he can even chase down and corner the dog, which the dog hates. He also loves to run into our ankles when we're in the kitchen cooking or cleaning. He can't move it on the carpet that much, but he is a terror on the kitchen floor. His acid reflux is gone. He hasn't had any medication for about a month to 6 weeks. I'm so glad that's over with!! He went to the Dr at 7 months for a weight check and a shot and he had gained 2 lbs in one month and was back up to 35% for weight. That was such a relief, especially with all the exercise he gets now that he's so mobile! He goes back on July 22 for his 9 month check up, so hopefully he's gained even more. I guess the formula was the right decision. In my last post I mentioned the eczema I thought he had. The Dr. just thought it was an allergic reaction to something and to put hydrocortisone on it, which she said was the same treatment for eczema. It went away after a couple weeks and he hasn't been bothered by it since. His diet is widely expanding. He will eat anything put in front of him. I'm trying my hardest to introduce him to a huge variety of different foods because I don't want him to end up as picky of an eater as I am. He loves all kinds of meats and even had a bite of Daddy's steak the other day. He LOVES chicken, puffs, potatoes, fresh and dried fruit, well...pretty much everything. He loves yogurt. So far that's the only dairy he can tolerate. I tried broccoli and cheese and mac and cheese and he spit up really bad with those. He's starting to mix up his sleeping habits. He goes to bed between 7:30 and 8:00 now. I've tried to keep him up later but it's too stressful on both of us. Sometimes he wakes up around 1-2 and I give him his passy and he will sleep til 4:30 or 5 and wants a bottle. Then he'll sleep til 6:30 or so. I really wish he'd sleep til 7:30 or 8:00 but at least I'm getting longer periods of sleep now. He's starting to really fight sleep around nap time and bed time, which he wasn't doing before. I really think he's ready for just 2 naps a day instead of 3 but I can't seem to get that adjusted, so for now nap time especially is a huge struggle. He's so strong and you really have to hold him down to get him to sleep. On the other hand, Brent can get him down in no time flat. I don't get it. Maybe he just likes his daddy putting him down?! Logan is also starting to learn what "no" means. He either smiles really big or cries when you tell him no, depending on what tone you use. He is also throwing fits when you tell him no and redirect him to something else. We are also starting to swat his hand when he's getting into stuff, especially when he pulls our hair. He's also being extremely difficult during diaper changes and when we're changing his clothes. He doesn't want to be still for a whole 20 seconds. I'm not sure if he's old enough to swat his leg when he's trying to roll over and get away, but I think that will come soon, since no is not working!

Three weeks ago Brent and I were both off work for a week. Brent has 3 weeks this year so we're trying to spread them out throughout the year. We didn't do anything big this time around but do plan on going to the beach in September. Logan stayed with mom for the weekend and Brent and I went to Gatlinburg for the day Saturday. In Gatlinburg we ate some yummy seafood, although I wouldn't have ate there if I'd seen the bathrooms before we got our food. We walked around the shops for a while. Then we went to the go-kart track and had a little competition. He won the first race, although I was leading til the last lap but got held up in a wreck, then I won the last race by a mile! We also played mini-golf in which we tied. We also rode the skycoaster, which was scary but a lot of fun. Dummy me leaned forward while they were strapping me in so I felt loose in the harness the entire time, which looking back just added to the thrill. They played back the video in front of lots of people and children. I kept telling them to please turn down the volume because there was going to be lots of bad words and I didn't want the kids to hear them, but they didn't. Luckily I didn't say nearly as many bad words as were going through my head! haha. On Sunday we went rafting on the Ocoee with our friends Misty and David. It was a ton of fun and we all want to go back and do the Olympic section. After rafting we took the scenic route to Ashville, NC. The mountains were so pretty. I miss seeing the mountains everyday at home! We arrived in Ashville Sunday evening and got ready to go to Harrah's Cherokee Casino. Neither of us won, but we had a blast throwing away our money. Monday we went to The Biltmore. That was a fascinating place! The mansion was ok, I liked seeing all the stuff but it was exactly as I thought it would be. The gardens and property were amazing though. All the flowers were in full bloom and I enjoyed walking around checking everything out. We did a wine tasting at the winery and learned how they make wine. I'm not a wine person but found it interesting how different wines can taste. I found out that I am a semi-sweet white wine person. Red wines were horrible and terribly dry. Yes, I even learned what it means for a wine to be dry-it means the opposite of sweet. We were suppose to head back to Chattanooga that day but we stayed so long at the Biltmore we decided to stay one more night. Tuesday and Wednesday we spent visiting with family, then we headed back home Wednesday afternoon. Thursday we cleaned out the garage and all the closets for our yard sale on Friday and Saturday. We did alright at the yard sale, we made about $100 or so. It was $100 more than we had but it was a lot of work. Logan got his first injury at the yard sale. I put him in his walker so he could roam around a little. He couldn't keep his shoes on so I decided to just put socks on so I wasn't constantly following him around putting his shoes back on. The kid refuses to wear shoes, he's always barefoot. I use to always wonder why people didn't put shoes on their babies when they went out of the house, but now I totally understand. Well, he ended up tearing holes in the toes of his socks, which causes him to scrape the skin and part of his toe nails off. It didn't seem to bother him until I accidentally got lotion on them after his bath that afternoon.
The last weekend of vacation was Father's Day. Brent got lots of tools to work on his new 1949 Ford Pickup that he bought from my Dad. We have yet to manage to get it to the house. He's having a hard time finding someone to haul it down here. He has several friends that have the abilities to do so, but their schedules don't seem to ever align. He also got a fabulous home cooked breakfast, a card from me and from Logan, and dinner at Red Lobster.

My job has royally ticked me off. I have been working there for almost 4 years trying my hardest to get a full time position so I could stop working nights and weekends. I've done everything for work every time I've been asked, never called in, never had a bad remark, had awesome reviews, etc and of course I was passed up for the first full time position to come open since I've been there. Basically, they told me that they just didn't like me, but in more professional terms. I've even got seniority over everyone else, but apparently that doesn't matter. Brent and I are both hoping that with his next raise/promotion that I will no longer have to work and I can tell them to kiss my butt goodbye. I've done nothing but be the perfect employee, but apparently that doesn't matter. They would rather base it on popularity. Sorry, guys, that I don't waste company time and money making small talk with you and the Dr's to gain popularity. It's nothing against the other girl, I like her a lot and she is a good worker as well. It just doesn't make sense to be. It will all work out in the long run though! There is a plan, I'm just not sure what it is and when it all falls into place it will make sense....hopefully! Brent has some good stuff being mentioned to him regarding his job so hopefully that will work out sooner rather than later.
Last Tuesday we took Logan to his first Braves game. They played the Phillies. He really like all the lights and music and of course he flirted with everyone around. He got a little fussy around bed time but I took him to a quiet (well, as quiet as you can imagine it can get in a baseball stadium) and was able to get him to fall asleep. He slept on me til the last inning and woke up happy as could be. Now for the best part of the night. It was after the 9th inning, the game was tied so they were getting ready to go into extra innings. The camera men were walking by trying to find people to put on the jumbotron (the huge TV out in center field where they have the scoreboard, etc) and he chose my little Logan as his subject. Logan got his 15 seconds of fame on the Jumbotron in his Braves outfit! It was so exciting! Brent had the camera ready and got a picture of our little superstar on the jumbotron! Logan was even watching himself on it. It was so cool.

Last Thursday Brent put the baby to sleep and then went out to get us some food. I was craving a fried chicken salad (no, I'm NOT pregnant) so he went to Zaxby's for me. I was working like usual. Well, the baby woke up so I went up to try to console him. Just giving him his passy didn't work so I got him out to rock him. About that time work called so I rushed and put Logan back in his crib and ran down the stairs. Well I get to the bottom step and roll my ankle and fall. I still managed to answer the phone and take the work call (I'm such a good employee). Once I was done I peeked down at my ankle and it was HUGE! I was sure it was broke and I couldn't put any weight on it. So, Logan is upstairs in his bed crying bloody murder, I'm downstairs crying cause I hurt my ankle and can't get to him. So I call Brent and tell him to HURRY! All I could get out was that I fell and the baby is crying. He, of course, though the worst. He thought I'd fallen while holding the baby and I couldn't get to the baby because I was hurt. He made it home in 12 minutes, when it usually takes 20. He was relieved to not open the door up to both a hurt baby and hurt me. I found someone to finish out the night for me. I called Taylor to come sit with the baby while he slept so we could go to the ER. Brent got the baby to sleep while I called Mom, who in turn jumped in the car to relieve Taylor and to help me with the baby since i would not be able to take care of him regardless of if it was broke or not. We get to the ER about 2 hrs after it happened. My ankle is now 4 times the size it should be. Turns out it's not obviously broken although a small fracture could have been missed due to the swelling. They put me in an air cast and gave me crutches and loaded me up with Lortab. I apparently don't handle Lortab well on an empty stomach, especially since they made me walk out with my crutches. All that together was not a good combination. I used the crutches all day Friday but was able to bear weight on Saturday. It's still swollen but it's feeling much better. Logan is with Mom. She was going to watch him anyways because I have to work by myself today and tomorrow and I knew I wouldn't be able to handle that and him on my own, so thankfully I'm not having to hobble around, work and take care of a baby. It would be near impossible. I'm sure I could do it, but I'd rather not!

In two weeks we are getting a new puppy. I know I said no more inside animals and that I would never get attached again to a dog, but Brent has been wanting a Boxer for as long as I can remember. Our friends have 2 boxers and they had babies and are going to give us one for basically free. All we have to pay for is the shots and tail cropping. Luckily we picked out the runt, so hopefully she will stay small. Her name is going to be Jade, which ironically enough has some sort of Mexican origin and all of our animals so far have had a Spanish name (Loca and Nino).

That's all for now. I hope to start doing better about keeping up my blog so I don't have to write so much at once!
