Barnyard Fun

A couple weekends ago we went to the Mossy Creek Barnyard Festival. It was really neat and I totally forgot to post some cute pictures I got while we were there.

Another Week

Another week of fun adventures has come and gone. This weekend we saw the Blue Angels Air Show on base. It was free to the public, which is awesome considering we've paid some hefty prices for the Chattanooga show in the past. Our friends, Josh and Taylor, and their family came down to see it with us. It's always nice to spend time with them!

Saturday, Brent was tied up with some stuff, so me and the boys drove out to the perimeter of the base, parked on the side of the road (with 1000's of other people), pulled the back hatch up on the Explorer and sat in the back and enjoyed the early part of the show. It was actually really fun sitting there with my 3 boys. All content. Logan and Nate mesmerized by the planes, Graham more than happy with a boob in his mouth (thank you tinted back windows!). But nap time came and went, they got fussy so we left an hour or so before the Blue Angels came on. Saturday evening the Bottoms crew joined us. We had some adult time while the children slept and/or watched movies. It's so nice to be around adults, especially adults with 3 children with similar parenting styles, who understand the chaos of everyday life.

Sunday we headed to the airshow. We had to park off base and they bussed us in. It's the first and probably only time I'll ever get to go on base. You have to have military/government ID to get on, on regular days. Based on what I saw the day before, we were expecting long waits and tons of chaos, but thankfully it was a lot calmer on Sunday. There was no wait at the buses and not too much trouble getting the strollers on and off. Someone had told me it was an act of congress to get a diaper bag through with all the security checks, but they barely even looked through it.

The show was great. It was HOT. So hot. The temp was 93 degrees, but I read to expect it to be 10 degrees hotter at the show due to all the concrete, asphalt and jets. I think they were right. I spent most of the show holding Graham under a canopy we made out of my moby wrap stretched between two strollers. It made for a poor view, sore butt and asleep legs, but I enjoyed letting Brent keep up with the other two for awhile, haha. We were wetting my nursing cover and wiping Graham down and dumping water on the big boys heads and rotating who got to sit in the strollers to keep everyone cool. Turns out it's really hard to hydrate for two in those conditions. I woke up Monday with a migraine and Logan throwing up. Luckily Brent was able to go in late til Logan was a little more manageable and my headache had subsided. I think everyone was a little sun drained. We had a lazy movie day today while we all recovered. Hopefully the stomach bug has left the building and doesn't reappear in anyone else.

Our Life

 Baby Graham is now smiling and cooing. He's very alert and developing a schedule. He sleeps pretty well at night. He loves his Mommy and knows exactly when she leaves the room ;) That's ok though, the other two were exactly the same and they turned out just fine.

Logan brought me this bug. He brought it in the house, said "I have something for your Mommy!" and showed me this. He said "Are you so proud of me Momma?" (I think he meant because he was touching it.) Look at those pinchers! They hurt, just ask Nate.

See, he touched it. Poor bug "went to sleep" so Logan put it back in the dirt to take a nap. He later admitted that it had died and was not upset about it either.

I've been sewing in my "spare time". (Spare time=time I should be cleaning, folding clothes, cooking meals, etc). This (and two others) were for a little two year olds birthday gift. One day I'll have time to make stuff and sell it. One day.....far, far away.

First time I've ever been brave enough to get a sleeping picture. Aren't they so precious when they are asleep? I think God made children look so beautiful and peaceful sleeping so us parents forget the torment they put us through when they were awake ;) Does the trick for me, every time.

I ran my first mile without stopping!! I know it's not really that far, and my time was comical BUT, it was my first goal and I DID IT!! (The pic above is my route around the neighborhood and my time I finished the first mile, my phone tracks it.) I've done this once in my life, in 7th or 8th grade. I was always really anemic, and I blame that on my lack of endurance as a kid. My next goal is to chop about 1.5-2 minutes off that time and ultimately to run 5k (3.1 miles). 

 We went to the strawberry patch at Lane Orchard with Logan's preschool class. He got to ride a BIG bus with the entire school and cried when it pulled off because he wanted to ride it again. Nate, Graham and I met up with them there. Logan got to take home that whole thing of berries that he picked and we made strawberry smoothies. He was so proud of them.

Week 2.

Week 2 of the diet is over. I've lost 9.5 lbs total!! 6.5 lbs under pre pregnancy weight! I started running yesterday. I about died. Today, not so bad! I ran a little over a mile and only stopped to fix my running app that wasn't working and to help someone get their puppy that was following me. I did pretty good! I'm so proud!

Sounds About Right

A man came home from work and found his 3 children outside, still in their pyjamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn around garden, The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house and no sign of the dog, walking in the door, he found ...an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, the throw rug was against one wall, In the front room the T...V was on loudly with the cartoon channel, the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing. In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door. He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened. He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls. As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pyjamas, reading a novel... She looked up at him, smiled and asked how his day went. He looked at her bewildered and asked, 'What happened here today?' She again smiled and answered, 'You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world do I do all day?...
''Yes," was his incredulous reply..
She answered, 'Well, today I didn't do it."

Diet

We've been on an official diet since last Wednesday. I vow to be in a bikini by labor day!

I weighed this morning and lost 8 pounds!!!!!

Brent has been dieting for about 3 weeks and is down 14 pounds!!

Easter

We had a lovely relaxing Easter weekend.

Friday night we dyed eggs. Logan was super excited about dying eggs when Brent got home that he couldn't hardly stand it.

Due to an impromptu decision to go to Tybee for the day on Sunday, the Easter Bunny came Saturday morning. He got the big boys exactly the same thing, but color coded everything so we knew whose was whose when they started fighting over them. Logan's was all blue, Nate's all green. They got sidewalk chalk, bubbles, water guns, sand bucket, big bouncy balls, flashlight, bat and ball (Logan), ball glove (Nate), one single pack of M&M's, and I'm sure a couple little things I'm forgetting. Of course the Easter Bunny couldn't leave Graham out. He got bunny ears, lotion, a stuffed bunny, a couple rattles and soft hand toys. Later that day we went to Brent's coworker's house for a little Easter gathering. They had a nice outdoor area so we all relaxed while the boys ran around creating mischief. We went to Easter service at church Saturday evening. After the Saturday services they had an Easter egg hunt. Poor little Nate had to hunt eggs with preschoolers (and their greedy parents! You wouldn't have believed the parents throwing eggs in their kids baskets, taking away from the other kids!) so he only ended up with 4 little eggs. He was so proud of those 4 eggs though! Logan, of course, got a basket full.

Sunday morning we headed to the beach!! It only took us about 3 hours and that was stopping on the side of the interstate in the middle of no where to let Logan pee and stopping another time to let Graham eat. It was really more crowded than I thought it would be, but we had a great time anyways. The boys played in the sand, chased birds, put their toes in the water (too cold for swimming!). They played so hard and didn't have a nap, but were still in good spirits. We decided we were hungry so we headed for the car, changed diapers and clothes. Nate went first and he was asleep before I even got the other two changed. Poor thing was tired! Then, of course, all three of them are out before we make it 2 miles down the road to the restaurant. It's amazing what that 5 minute power nap can do for them, so of course the big boys were awake for most of the ride home. It was mostly a peaceful drive and we got some much needed family time!
