Christmas Day!

Christmas Day was busy but super special this year. We've started our own family tradition of Santa and opening presents Christmas morning in our house and even though it put a rush on other things, it made for a good Christmas for us all! Brent and I got up at what seemed like the crack of dawn. For the last couple weeks Logan has been sleeping really late (well, late for him), like til somewhere between 8-9:00, so in order to not wake up a sleeping baby we got up early to get ready, the car packed, and opened our presents to each other all before Logan got up. I got some very, very cute maternity clothes, new black boots and another pair of shoes and a couple new books. Plus lots and lots of candy, lotion and hair products in my stocking. Brent got some new clothes, new tennis shoes, golf supplies for this weekend, an electric razor and a reciprocating saw, which he is so excited about, haha. Plus lots of candy and other tid bits in his stocking.

Logan didn't seem to be waking up, so we finally had to break down and get him. I'm a firm believer of never waking a sleeping baby, but if we didn't we weren't going to make it home in time!! About half way down the steps Logan gets all wiggly trying to get down and get to his new toys. I don't know what his expression was because I was carrying him and have yet to look at the pictures! As soon as he got down he made a bee line for Curious George, of all things! That seemed to be one of his favorites! All those big, fancy toys and his favorite things is a $5 Curious George doll. HA! Currently though, his favorite thing seems to be the slide on the play set. He can do it all by himself now! It's so cute! He also likes to try to crawl down it, which gives his daddy a heart attack each and every time. He also likes to sit in his Cozy Coupe just hasn't figured out how to make it go just yet. He also likes to sit on his 4-wheeler and will press the button to go, but won't hold it down.

He got lots of other things throughout the day, so much that his playroom is PACKED to the brim. No more toys for him til his birthday at least! But the most special thing he got was the rocking chair. This rocking chair was his grandfather's, his uncle's, then Brent's and now his. Brent's Mamaw found it in her basement and got it all cleaned up for him. It didn't even need a new coat of paint and looks just like new! It was very well taken care of over the years and I hope to be able to care for it just as well. I also have a rocking chair that my grandmother gave me for my 1st birthday in my parent's attic that I was going to get out for Logan, but now I think I will save it for the new little one.

I'll post pictures later because right now I'm suppose to be cleaning! Oops...

1st Dr's Appt...

The first appointment went well. They said currently my due date is August 16, but could change once the ultrasound is done. I don't see it changing though because I know more details than they do ;). My ultrasound is scheduled for next Thursday at 11 a.m. They wanted to do it this week, but since we still have Aetna I can't have it at their office....but our insurance changes to BCBS on Friday, which will allow me to have it in their office. I don't know if ya'll remember or not, but having the ultrasound at the hospital means no pictures....unless you have an emotional breakdown when they tell you that and they sneak you some like they did for me last time! haha. So, by waiting a week I'm guaranteed pictures!! YAY!! They did lots of blood work as well today. They didn't have to do as much as last time, since obviously my blood type didn't change, etc, but they did check to see if I've contracted any STD's or HIV/AIDS since last time, LOL! I guess if those come back positive, someone is in BIG trouble..Brent Price. HAHAHA. Just Kidding!

My next regular appointment is Jan. 26. I'll be 11 weeks at that appointment. I remember last time they started doing the heartbeat by Doppler at 10 weeks, but it varies by who you see, so I'm not sure if we'll get to do that then or not. But we will definitely hear it on Thursday!!

I asked if they were going to send me to the perinatologist this time due to the family history of congenital heart defect. They said it was up to me...and that there is no other perinatologist in Athens. Ugh, I HATED that man. He point blank lied to us. So, I'm undecided if I want to go that route this time or not. They said if their u/s tech thinks there's anything suspicious they can send me to him for further evaluation, so I may choose that route. That's a whole 11 weeks away though, so I have time to decide.

I seem more laid back this time. I'm not nearly as paranoid. I guess that comes with the territory since I've been there, done that. I can't decide if my symptoms are the same or different this time. It seems like everything is totally different but completely the same. I know that sounds completely insane, but that's how I feel. It seems like I'm having fewer food aversions, but the things I don't like I didn't like last time either. Mayo gives me the creeps, as well as cutting up raw chicken. Ugh, that makes me gag just thinking about it. Bacon and sausage cooking makes me nauseous too, but I can eat the heck out of it if I didn't smell it cooking, haha. All of that bothered me with Logan, except I couldn't eat the bacon and sausage. The nausea seems to be better this time too. I didn't have much with Logan, but I seem to be having even less this time around. It comes and goes, but usually leaves as quickly as it came. It comes in spurts every now and then, but nothing major. The tiredness hasn't really set in yet either...maybe because I don't have time to even think about being tired. I have my days when I feel more exhausted than others, but it's usually due to some other factor...like Logan being up a lot through the night, going to sleep late and getting up early, or some crazy inebriated men coming in really late waking up the baby...who stayed up for TWO hours. If it does set in more though, I'm lucky that Logan still takes two naps. And if for some reason he only takes one, it's usually really long.

According to my scales I'm down 4 lbs, but when I weighed at the office today I was what I was when I weighed 3 weeks ago. I usually weigh first thing in the morning but today I'd already ate and drank LOTS of fluid so I could give a sample by the time of my appointment. However, I was down 10 lbs since my last appt in June or July, so that's good!! I hope that I lose weight like I did with Logan, but we'll see! I almost wish I had more food aversions so I wouldn't worry about it!

I'm So Excited!!

This Saturday Brent and I leave for Phoenix! Our flight is around 10 a.m. and we will land in Arizona around 1:00. That Saturday is the Awards Banquet and Coaches Dinner. We will get to meet the coaches of the teams playing in the Fiesta Bowl and they will give some sort of speech and answer questions.

Sunday is my much anticipated spa day. Well, not really a whole day....they are giving me a $175 gift certificate, but the cheapest facial is $130 and they automatically add in 20% gratuity, so that makes my total $156. I really want a massage, but the spa and my Dr. said no since I'm still in the first trimester. Brent has a golf tournament on this day as well and they are giving us a dinner gift certificate to go out to eat on. I think it is for the restaurants in the resort, but I'm not positive. I remember looking at the resort restaurants' menus last time and they looked delicious...but very expensive. But, what I think I may be looking forward to the most, though, is SLEEPING LATE!!!! I don't have to be at the spa til noon!! They are giving me a gift certificate for breakfast that morning, but I may just sleep though breakfast and get yummies from the hospitality room on my way to the spa. Last time in the hospitality room they had all sort of chips and dips, desserts galore, peanuts, crackers, soft drinks....basically every Frito/Pepsi product known to mankind.

Monday is the Chalk Talk Brunch with the announcers of the Fiesta Bowl. Brent is going to this, but I am going to skip so I can go get our rental car. This ends at 11. At 1 we leave for the "College Football's Biggest Party"...which is basically a tailgate. Frito has their own VIP section with lots and lots of food and drinks. After this is the Fiesta Bowl itself.

Tuesday we are leaving bright and early for the Hoover Dam and Las Vegas!!!!!!! This is our "free day" so we want to take advantage of something we might not ever have the opportunity to do again. Last time we went to the Grand Canyon and Sedona, so we want to try something else out. I'm so very, very, very excited about seeing both these things. I really want to see that water show, but I'm not sure which casino it's at! We will probably do lots of walking around and taking pictures...and not so much gambling. It doesn't matter how much money we take for gambling, it's almost guaranteed to be gone within 2 hrs, haha. Who knows, though, maybe we'll come back millionaires. We want to stay at the Hard Rock. I just looked up prices and it's only $41/night. Some were as low at $25. They must be hurting for tourism...

Wednesday our flight leaves around 1:00 from Phoenix.

Christmas..

Is just around the corner!! We are so very excited about Logan's first Santa experience and also finally doing our Christmas ON Christmas instead of several days before because of all the traveling we once did. This year we are cutting down on the travel significantly. We have decided that Santa will always be at our house. We want Christmas to be about spending quality time with our little family and not so much all the hustle and bustle. We plan on traveling to Chickamauga/Chattanooga Christmas Day around Logan's nap time, which will probably be 10ish. We have my family gathering at 2 and then sometime that evening we will go to Brent's grandmother. The day after we have Brent's mom's side and Brent's Mimi.

Logan is getting tons of stuff for Christmas. We did mostly outdoor toys since he already has sooooo many indoor things. Santa is bringing him a Step 2 Kangaroo Climber (it's basically an outside toddler playset with a slide and things to climb on). He's getting a battery powered Spiderman 4-wheeler, a Cozy Coupe, a Musical Sit and Spin, a See n' Say, several wooden puzzles, lots of DVD's, Mr. Potato Head, a plush Curious George, a heavy winter coat and a UGA beanie hat. He also got the cutest 3 piece suit and dress shoes but he's wearing those tomorrow for our family pictures. We also want to get him a sand box but haven't found one in stock.

It is official that we are going to Phoenix/Fiesta Bowl January 2-6. We are really excited about our alone time! Logan is going to stay with Mom while we're gone. I'm really, really looking forward to my $175 spa gift certificate!!!!! I'm not sure I can get a massage though...I'm finding conflicting information about it and will ask the Dr. when I see her.

Speaking of the pregnancy...Most of the time I forget I'm pregnant. I haven't really had any aversions or nausea. My morning coffee was making me nauseous but I quit drinking it when I had the positive test and nothing else has made me sick so far. I do feel the tiredness creeping in a little, so I guess it's good that Logan still takes 2 naps a day. Today I started loosing my appetite a little, which I'm actually glad about because last week I was starving nonstop and I really, really don't want to gain a bunch of weight. I did good with Logan, just gaining 23 lbs with 2/3 of that being the last two weeks...so hopefully I'll be just as lucky this time around. Mom and I went shopping yesterday and I got several cute winter maternity things. I can't wait to need to wear them!! With Logan I started wearing maternity around 12 weeks, not because I was really showing but my jeans were getting uncomfortable when I would sit and bend down. I think it will be earlier this time though because I can already feel/see changes to my body.

GUESS WHAT?!?!

Logan is going to be a big brother!! Only 2 months after deciding we'd start trying for another baby, we are pregnant. The estimated due date is August 16, 2010 and today I am 5 weeks 1 day. Logan and his little sibling will be around 22 months apart, which I think is about perfect!

We are already thinking about names. For now we like Natalie Elizabeth or Nathaniel (Nate) with either Franklin or Johnson as the middle name, both after my Dad. But there are several others at the top of our list as well and I'm sure we'll change our mind at some point in the next 8 months!

Savings, Savings, Savings...

This coupon deal is turning out to be a huge money saver for us! In four weeks I saved approximately $275-300 in groceries and around $50 in diapers/wipes. I have officially cut our grocery spending in half!!

The past few weeks I've found some really great deals. In the past couple weeks I've gotten 4 tubs of margarine, 4 cans of Dole fruit, 2 Pillsbury Crescent Rolls, 2 Annie's Organic Mac and Cheese, 2 Progresso Soups, 1 doz eggs all for free...and that's just off the top of my head! I got 4 Glass Plus cleaners for $0.24, 2 bags of Chex Mix for $0.16, Campbells soup for $0.19, cinnamon rolls for $0.22, Grands biscuits for $0.80, lots of Progresso soup for $0.25, Betty Crocker cookie mix for $0.53, Nestle Toll House cookie dough for $0.44, 6 pk Yoplait Kids yogurt for $0.89, 6 Nivea Body Wash for $1, Ragu for $0.44, 2 Wishbone Dressing for $0.54, Hefty Foam Plates for $.057, 3 Kleenex for $0.31, Fruit Loops $0.75, 6 Green Giant Fresh Steamers for $0.19, 2 Betty Crocker Boxed Potatoes 0.45, 2L Pepsi Products $0.84...plus much, much more! I haven't spent over $1 for anything unless it's meat, dog food, toilet paper or paper towels....and of course diapers and wipes.

Currently I have 6 body washes, 3 boxes of kleenex, 20 cans of soup in the pantry (I should probably lay off the soup, but it's such a good deal I can't pass it up!), 6 bottles of Lysol All Purpose Cleaner, 4 Glass Plus cleaners, several deodorants and razors in my stockpile. Plus all the frozen veggies, frozen meals and snacks and margarine I have in the fridge! The freezer is packed with yummies!! I really need to find a good deal on shampoo/conditioner but have yet to really find anything. I'm hoping Walgreens has a good sale this week ;).

This week I spent approximately $90, which is over my goal of $60/wk but Brent is on vacation next week so I know we will be eating more at home than usual...plus the Pepsi 2L were on sale for $0.84, so I stocked up on those too! I typically spend around $70-75/wk, down for $135-150, but if I'd quit stocking up on stuff and just get what we need I'm sure my total would be more around $50-60. The past two weeks I've been going to more than one store. Now, when I started this I told myself that I was sticking to Publix and maybe 1 pharmacy and I wasn't driving all around town to get groceries. Well, I started looking at the other ads and got hooked. I mean who wants to pay $2.99+ for a lb of chicken when I can go to another store and get it for $1.76?? Especially when there are great deals at the other store! I'm not going to drive across town to save a little over a $1 on chicken since the cost of gas defeats the purpose of driving there, but if there are several more things I can get for free or next to free then I might as well! So, the past two weeks I've been to Publix and Ingles, which are both nearby, and to Kroger which is in Athens, but so far has been worth the drive. The only thing that makes Kroger worth it is their Plus Card. You can load coupons onto your plus card online and you can use a paper coupon for the same item. So basically you get double coupons, plus if they are $0.50 or under they are doubled once again. So I guess you could look at it as anything less than $0.50 is a quadruple coupon. Last week I did all this driving by myself, but today we were in Athens anyways so I just ran in for a second while Brent and Logan stayed in the car.

Brent has been giving me "Mommy Night" every Tuesday. When he gets home from work I get to go do whatever I want while he watches Logan. Sometimes I just go grocery shopping. Lately I've been doing a little Christmas shopping....and sometimes I get to go eat dinner and actually take my time and don't have to pick food off the floor! Some people think I'm insane for going to a sit down restaurant alone, but they should try it...it's actually really relaxing, haha. Especially for me since eating in peace is very rare. Getting out of the house is really doing me some good. I love, love, love being a full time mommy but it's definitely a 24/7 job and everyone needs a break...even if it's just for an hour or two!

Speaking of buying Christmas gifts, I sponsored some families on WishUponAHero.com plus we bought several toys for Frito's Toys for Tot's drive. All in all we are providing or helping with Christmas for 17 children that would not otherwise get a Christmas. We're not going all out, we just can't do that financially, but these kids will have something from Santa on Christmas morning. I don't know if it's motherhood or what but for some reason I'm just really saddened by the fact that not all children will get a Christmas and have really been drawn to give back this year. I hope to be able to continue this for years to come. Maybe next year I won't go to this extreme though...17 kids is a lot! I've also been trying to find a family close by that can use my extra groceries that I find for free or next to free but so far have not had any luck. I know there are food banks and homeless shelters in town, but I kind of want a single family. For some reason I want to know specifically that I've changed a family's life and not just random people....not that random people aren't in just as much of need...but I don't know...I guess I want to see someone's life change for the better by something I directly did. So far no luck, though.

Peanut Butter...

Logan has really started to like peanut butter. It's one of his newest "favorites".

And here's proof....

I was working while this happened. He'd just got up from his nap and it was about 30 minutes or so before my lunch break. Instead of confining him to his baby gate circle thing, I decided to let him roam free for a few minutes. He was playing contently in the office with me, which is now his playroom by the way. I painted and we moved all his toys in there. Anyways, he wandered off and I assumed he'd be back in a minute. Well, a couple minutes go by and I realize that it got awfully quiet. I'm sure all you Mama's know that quiet usually isn't good! So, off I go looking for him and this is what I find. Him and Nino were sitting in the floor going to town with the peanut butter. I attempted to take a video of it which turned out hilarious. I was sitting in the floor trying to get level with him so you could see the mess. Well he decides he wants to give me sugar and proceeds to chase me trying to get peanut butter on me! I finally escaped...well I thought I did! I decide just to let him continue for a few minutes until my lunch break. As soon as I got settled in my chair he comes up and rubs it on my side! That little stinker! He apparently thinks my reaction is funny so he does it over and over and over! We both ended up in the shower during my lunch, haha.

Thanksgiving...

I guess I better write about Thanksgiving before Christmas has come and gone!

We drove up twice to Thanksgiving dinners back home. The weekend before we drove up to my parents. On Saturday I helped Mom cook and get ready for dinner on Sunday. Brent and I were able to have a date, which was wonderful! We went to see "Blind Side", which is a really, really good movie. We were at the theatre during all the "New Moon" madness but luckily it wasn't too crowded.
Sunday was my family dinner. We stayed til around 6 and then headed home.

Thursday we headed back up for Brent's Mimi's and his Mamaw's. It was a busy day and Logan was into everything! He ran me ragged! We ended up play a lot outside just because it was so crowded inside. He was much better at Mamaw's, although sleepy. He didn't eat much at either place, but being in a strange place distracted him I guess. We headed back home Thursday evening. Brent had to work Friday, so we had to get back. I ended up having the day off and enjoyed a 4 day weekend!

That weekend we decorated the house for Christmas. Well, the outside anyways. We've been planning on putting the tree up for weeks now, but never get to it. We're suppose to put it up Wednesday. So anyways, the outside of the house has approximately 3600 lights on it, last time I counted. Brent is really proud of his decorations, haha. He spent all day that Saturday and several evenings since perfecting it. The lights are also set to music once again this year. It's actually quite neat how it all works together! Anyways, here's a picture. I'll post a video if I can ever figure out how to upload from my video camera thingy....I want some lights above the windows on top, but it's kind of steep and dangerous up there!
