Shame on me for not updating this blog more often! I've got so much to write about, so I hope you have a minute or ten cause this one is going to be a long one!
Logan is growing like a weed! I took him to the Dr. about 2 weeks ago and he weighed 11 lbs 12 oz. I thought he was going to be big for his age but he was just in the 57 percentile. The Dr. did not seem concerned about his spitting up since he'd gained so much weight. She said to hold off on cereal til 14 lbs, which will probably be around 4 months. She also told me to start him on vitamins. I tried to get him to take them a couple times but he ends up spitting them out and making an
awful, yet cute, face. They stain clothes pretty bad, too! He got his shots for the first time, which was the worst thing I've ever experienced. It wasn't the sight of him getting the shots themselves but the
awful screaming that followed! I've never ever heard him scream/cry like that and it broke my heart! Luckily Mom was there to help me get him checked out, loaded back up in the car and calmed down. The only thing that helped him was nursing, so that made me feel a little better knowing that Mommy could fix it...at least this time! He has to go back at 4
mths and do the shots all over again so I'm forcing Brent to go with me because I can't do that by myself...I might break down and cry with him if I don't have at least some moral support! I still don't understand why he needs his Hepatitis B shot. It's optional for
health care workers who work in an environment where they could and would be exposed to the disease, so why is it a requirement for an infant who is not in contact with bodily fluids or is sexually active? I don't get it, but needless to say, he will be getting it starting at 6
mths. I can't find any serious side effects or anything, I just don't see the point. Seems like it could wait til they were older.
Except for last night, Logan has been sleeping very well. He usually goes down around 9:30 or 10 and sleeps til around 3 a.m., then he eats and goes back to sleep til around 6 a.m. Then he usually sleeps til around 9 a.m. and then we're generally up for the day. Sometimes I can get another hour out of him, sometimes I can't. I started a new routine 2 nights ago that seems to get him to go to sleep faster. It use to take a lot of nursing and a lot of rocking to get him to go to sleep but the last two nights, I turned on a lullaby CD, shut the door to keep out the TV noise (Brent listens to the TV exceptionally loud), nursed and put him down drowsy but not totally asleep. He grunted and groaned for about 20 minutes but never cried and went to sleep by himself. I would like to add a bath to that routine but I've heard it's bad to bathe infants every night, something about it drying out their skin too much. I don't remember exactly. Maybe I should just lotion him up with the
lavender lotion instead. Anyways, the CD seems to be working. He has also started napping more regularly during the day now. He usually goes down around 12 or 1 and sleeps for an hour or so, then he'll go asleep again around 4 or 5 unless we've been out and about and he'll sleep in the car, which takes the place of one of the above nap times.
He is cooing and smiling so much now. He's really discovering his voice and can
squeal too. Every now and then he lets out a giggle, but I think it's on accident because I can never get him to do it again. Mom taught him how to make a noise with him mouth...I can't even describe the noise, so I have no way to tell you what it is...but we've been working on that and he'll do it
occasionally. It's so cute to see him concentrate so hard on my mouth and try to mimic what I'm doing. I laid him down earlier to look at his bears on one of his mobiles while I picked up the office and I heard him do it once. I have no idea if he did it on purpose or if it was an accident though.
Bath time is no longer a struggle now. I started using the infant bathtub instead of the sink and it's been a lot easier on us and I actually think he's starting to enjoy it!
My maternity leave is almost up. I start back Jan. 12. The last 12 weeks have flown by. I'm so thankful I work from home though and can still be with him throughout the day. I don't think I'd be able to leave him in a daycare. I'm not sure how other mothers do that, it must break their hearts! I have gotten some disappointing news from my employer though. They have rearranged the schedule quite significantly, due to the economy I assume, and instead of my usual 26 hrs a week and 1 weekend a month which added an additional 29 hours I am now only getting 15 hrs a week and the 1 weekend a month has been reduced to 22 hrs. It sucks but I think it's really a blessing in disguise. Now I'll only be working one day shift through the week, the rest of the time will be evenings and weekends and Brent will be home to help with Logan. Hopefully Frito-hell will come through with a nice raise for Brent and it will all even out!
I'm starting a diet tomorrow. It's funny how I'm the same weight I was before I was pregnant but now it's all in different places and nothing seems to fit. I can't believe how different I feel and look. Ugh! I can't wait for it to be gone,
haha! I just don't feel like myself! My goal is to lose 30 lbs. I want to be in a bikini this summer and since I didn't get any stretch marks, I have no excuse!!

On to Christmas.....
We had a really good but busy Christmas. The weekend before we went up to Chattanooga for Mama O's Christmas dinner. I haven't been able to go to that gathering in several years due to work. We had a good time and the peanut butter fudge was so good! The next day, Sunday, we went to Julie and Dave's to exchange gifts with them. Logan was a little fussy while we were there but not too bad. We had a good lunch, with some awesome asian salad, and enjoyed spending a couple hours with them.
Sunday night we headed back to Atlanta and opened up our gifts. We usually have to do our Christmas a couple days early since we have so much traveling to do Christmas Eve and Christmas day. That's all changing next year though. Santa will be coming to our house from now own. We have to start our own family traditions and that's definitely going to be one of them! Below is some pictures of our family Christmas.

Logan got a wagon, a
jumperoo, a toy box that is shaped like a baseball (it's not in this picture, obviously), a caterpillar that sings, a new book that also plays music, and several rattles and small toys.

Brent got a new home gym, a new tool box full of Craftsman screwdrivers (it seems like we're always searching for a darn screwdriver), new boxers, Hancock DVD, a new belt, and a
TomTom navigation system.

I got an external hard drive for my laptop, several shirts and a sweater, a computer bag, a new purse, picture frames, a
pedegg, a
massager for my office chair, new chef knives, a new necklace, and a new book.

Here's Logan's stocking. Isn't it so cute?!?!

Our redneck Christmas lights! You can't tell it here but they are
synced to music! It's hilarious!

Our tree with all the presents! And no, I didn't put Logan's out like Santa came, that's just where they ended up as we bought them. We didn't see the need in wrapping them up or anything!

Apparently, I felt the need to post Logan's presents twice!
Brent had to work Christmas Eve a little, then we headed to Chickamauga for his Mimi's Christmas Dinner. We had a huge traditional dinner and then opened gifts. Then we headed to my parents for the night.
Christmas morning Mom cooked breakfast and we got ready to head up to Lisa and Steve's for lunch. Then we had to be at my parents at 3 for my family gathering and gifts. Then we had to be at Brent's grandmother's at 6:30 for more food and gifts! It was a busy day but lots of fun! We stayed at my parents Christmas night and headed back home around lunch time Friday.
I guess that's all for now. I told you it was going to be a long one!!
