My chubby cheeks

Nate is becoming a little chunker! He's just growing and growing. He's outgrowing clothes everyday and I can hardly keep up! I have no idea what he weighs, but it's got to be a lot. I'm pretty positive that he's already doubled his birth weight and probably then some. He's rolling over consistently now. He can go from belly to back, but a pesky little elbow gets in his way when he tries to roll back over, but he occasionally beats that pesky little elbow and makes it back to his belly. He's really found his voice in the last couple days and I swear he tries to compete with Logan on who can be the loudest. He just smiles and smiles while he's doing all this talking and cooing, like he's just so proud of himself. He's been laughing out loud for some time now. Baby laughs have got to be the cutest thing on Earth! He's a very good and content baby. I think he'd be content sitting in his bouncy seat just looking at me all day long. If I get out of sight though, that's another story. He doesn't like for Mommy to leave the room. I can't for the life of me get him to take a bottle. I've tried, Brent's tried, Brent's tried when I leave the house, I've tried with both breastmilk and formula, warm, cold, warmer, not as warm, different bottles. Nothing works. He wants absolutely nothing to do with anything artificial. Not even a passy. I know deep down in my heart of hearts that in about a year I'll be so thankful that he doesn't take a passy, but sometimes I wish he'd just TAKE IT! He has, however, learned to soothe himself with his hands/fingers. He loves to suck on his fist or how ever many fingers he can fit inside his mouth. I always said I'd give my child a passy before I let them suck on their fingers. A passy I can take away, fingers I can't. But what am I suppose to do? I've tried every single brand of passy that Target sells. Nothing works. So, I guess I'm left with a finger sucker ((sigh)). I'm trying to look on the bright side though and be thankful that he's found something other than a boob in his mouth to soothe himself with.

Breastfeeding is going great. There seems to be no issues as of yet. I'm thankful for that, but at the same time jealous of all my formula feeding friends that can drop their babies off at the grandparents and go on a date night, sleep without interruption, have a little flexibility in their schedule and not having to think of places to go where I can hide away in a dressing room to feed the baby or trying to find a parking space that's not at a store front window or around a crowded area. Now, not only do I have to time everything around Logan's very particular sleep schedule, but I also have to time everything around when Nate is going to eat. I know in the long run, breastfeeding is such a small part of their life and in no time I'll be adjusting to some other routine, but for now I'd like some flexibility or maybe just an hour away from home without kids. My next goal is to make it to 6 months. That will be February. On one hand I can't wait to get to the point where I've met my goal and feel is ok to stop, but on the other hand if it's still going as well as it is now and he's still growing so well, I don't see why I would stop then.

He has been sleeping in his cradle consistently now for a while. Brent is on vacation next week and I plan on getting him transitioned to his crib then. I've been putting him in his crib for a nap or two a day and letting him "play" in there when I change out the laundry or take a shower, so I'm hoping he's getting use to it and I'll be able to ease him into his crib without issue.

He goes to the Dr again on Dec 21, so I'll update with his stats then.

Conversations with Logan.

This is how the conversation went with Logan today in the car....with himself.

"How about cow? Mooooooo. GOOD JOB! How about piggy? Snort snort. GOOD JOB! How about cat? Meow. GOOD JOB! How about piggy? Moooo. NOOOO! Snort Snort. GOOD JOB! Big truck! GOOD JOB!"

It sounded just like our conversation we have almost every car ride, with the exception that I was just listening and he was playing both parts! There's a house down the road from us that has horses and every time we pass them, he makes me start going through all his animal sounds. Luckily, I got a free pass this time. He's also learning the difference between big and little, that's why he told himself "good job" over identifying a big truck. Other times in the car he repeatedly says "1232123212321....It reminds me of when my sister and I would yell "mailbox" every time we saw a mailbox. I'm sure that drove my parents CRAZY! But hey, at least he can count to 3 and then do it backwards (we're trying to learn how to count to 5 but he doesn't have the hang of that yet). He also likes to sing twinkle, twinkle little star, but I don't mind that so much.

He is getting so big and learning so much that I can't keep up with it all to blog about it. His sentences are getting cleared and longer. His favorite thing to say right now is "I can't do it". I hate that he says that though! He says it when doing something that he can do, he just won't try hard enough. Sometimes I just want to say "you're not a quitter! Quit saying you can't" but it's not like he's going to understand what that means. So instead I just show him how he can do it and hope that he does the next time.

I had the scare of a lifetime about a week ago. He has learned how to open the doors even with the child door knob thingamajigs. He was laying down taking a nap, Nate was asleep in his swing, so I decided to lay down on the couch and gets some Zzzz's myself. Next thing I know I was awaken from some very bright light. Turns out the front door was WIDE OPEN! I run out the front door, barefoot and probably bra-less. I don't see him, I don't hear him. I'm freaking out. Jade comes running up the side of the house from the back yard. Since she is his best friend I assumed she was with him, so I head out back, calling for him, no answer. I get around to the back and there's my little Logan in his t-shirt and diaper, dragging his blankie on the wet, muddy ground, barefoot, squatting down at the edge of the woods saying "kitty, kitty". It's a darn good thing that I was just so relieved to have found him relatively quickly that my anger subsided because otherwise I would have worn his bottom out and the DFCAS lady that lives next door would have probably had to file a report. So now I deadbolt and lock the door before I dare take a nap, although he knows how to do those too, at least it takes him a little time and makes a little noise. I must have been COMPLETELY out of it for him to have gotten outside though.

Just 2 days ago, the same scenario as above. Logan asleep in his bed, Nate asleep in the swing, me asleep on the couch with the doors LOCKED...and Logan woke me up attempting to cover me up with his blanket. Such a sweet little boy.

There's a website called shitmykidsruined.com and I swear I need to start submitting stuff to them. I went on there the other day and thought "man, that's nothing, Logan's done way worse than that!" Like the keys on my laptop have been removed. A flower vase got knocked over on my computer and it no longer works. Syrup poured all over the floor, himself and the dog. Sharpie to the bathroom vanity just a couple hours before the realtor was suppose to be here(rubbing alcohol got most of it off). 2 full bottles of laundry detergent poured all over the washer and laundry room floor. Crockpot broken. Two coffee pots shattered. And that's just what I can think of off the top of my head!

That's my Logan though. For all the mischief he creates and messes to clean up, he's 10 times more loving. He gives the best kisses and hugs in the world. He'll even grab us with both hands on our face to make us give him a kiss. Logan was eating breakfast in his high chair when Brent told him bye, bye to go to work. When Brent got about half way to the door Logan started yelling "hug, hug, hug" so Brent had to come back and get a sticky pancake hug before he walked out the door. His laughter and smile can light up a room, and for that I'm grateful and will take all the messes in the world for them!

He's becoming a great big brother and will try to take care of Nate. He's a little rough, but he's learning. Anytime Nate spits up, Logan rushes over with a wipe and wipes off Nate's face and clothes (and probably most of his skin too). He gets a wipe and tries to wipe off Nate's bottom when I'm changing his diaper. He bounces Nate's bouncy seat when he gets fussy. He tickle monsters Nate's belly and feet.

He still has his jealous moments though. Sometimes if I'm holding Nate while sitting on the couch, Logan will come over and try to push him away and says "MOVE!". A few weeks ago Brent was holding Nate and Logan wanted to play so he went to Brent and pushed him towards me and said "Mommy holds baby", so Brent would play cars with him.

Anyways, that's my update on Logan. I only have access to a computer when Brent gets home from work, but I'm sure I'll have more mischievous things to post soon. Hoping to get my computer to the shop this week!

It's Official!

We're moving to Perry! The offer came Thursday, Brent signed it and sent it back. We have a conference call today with the relocation specialists and will have more details then. We know we're not moving during the holidays, but beyond that we're not sure. i'm excited to have at least 7 weeks to get packed, organized, and decluttered. I think Brent's OCD is wearing off on me because I went and bought 10 huge tubs yesterday to get stuff organized in. I started coming up with labels for them and turns out I'll need about 15 more and about 15 shoe box sized ones. I'm glad everything is finally going to have a place, that's clearly labeled and easy to find! Hoping to get some more details today!

Pictures

We went to the park with a couple friends the other day and lucky us, Taylor had her camera! We weren't coordinated and the kids had on their costumes, but they still turned out great!

Happy Halloween!

We've had an eventful Halloween weekend at the Price Household! Friday we went to the pumpkin patch to participate in some farm activities and pick out a pumpkin. We had so much fun, even in the little time frame that we had and left with a 16 lb pumpkin! They had animals to pet, a cow train, pig races, pumpkin slingshot, corn maze, corn cob launcher. It was probably the most fun Fall activity there is to do out here. Saturday we headed out early to a park for their "Trek or Treat"...it turned out to not be what we were expecting, so we met up with some friends at a playground. We got a couple spur of the minute family pictures made. Hopefully I'll have those to share soon! Then we went to our good friends, Josh and Taylor, house for the UGA vs FL game. As usual we had a blast hanging out with our friends and enjoying some yummy food. Today we took Logan trick or treating in our neighborhood. He seemed to have a blast! After each house he'd tell us "more, more" and hop on the stroller for a ride to the next house. He wasn't ready to be done for the night, but we'd been to all the houses and it was getting cold really quick!

Quilt

The crafty gene came out of me this weekend, so I made a quilt top! I wish I was better, but at least I try. The colors didn't come out well in the photo. The orange is not as overwhelming as it seems and the aqua/teal is more pronounced. It's 42 x 56, perfect lap quilt size.

Well Visits...

Today was Logan's 2 yr well visit and Nate's 2 mth well visit.

Logan weighed 25 lbs 6 oz (18%), height 36.5 inches (93%), and head circumference of 19.25 inches (56%). He got 2 shots, one being the flu shot, and cried more and longer than Nate did for his, but he was a big boy and was better in just a few minutes. Kris (the NP) said his eating habits and picky-ness are normal. She said toddlers will go through phases where all they want is apples, then the next week they hate them, which seems to be what Logan does. The best part of the visit, though, was when we were leaving. There was this very attractive Nurse Practitioner student. Logan must have thought she was very pretty because he was walking down the hall staring at her, not watching where he was going and walked right into a box of supplies they had sitting in the hall. Kris told Brent that he had to teach Logan how to be more discreet. HAHA.

Nate weighed 12 lbs 6 oz (54%), he is 24 inches long (75%) and head circumference of 16 inches (56%). She was impressed with his head strength and said most babies still had some lag when picking them up and laying them back down, but he doesn't have any. He got 2 shots and one oral vaccine. He only cried for a second and was all better before she even had his bandaids on. He's gained 2 lbs 8 oz and grew 1.75 inches in just 5 weeks. He'll probably weight more than Logan by 1 yr, haha. However, I do feel that the next 2 months will be the "test" of my milk. Logan's 4 mth visit was when he started to fall off his curve. There were a lot of other factors involved in that, but much of those factors are the same with Nate (acid reflux, spitting up, restless, etc.) Logan also had drastic weight gain in his first 2 months, but I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic.
